Fort Cobb

Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, was established in October 1859 by Major William H. Emory, located on the west side of Pond Creek near the Washita River. It was named for then Secretary of the Treasury, Howell Cobb. The fort played a role in the Civil War, originally housing Federal troops before being occupied by Confederate forces in 1861.
