Janis Tietgens

Janis Teegins was born in Wichita, Kansas, and attended the University of Tulsa. She and Bill Tietgens - his first news director changed the spelling of his name to TEEGINS - fell in love while working at an upscale Tulsa grocery store. They both loved baseball and were engaged and married within a year. In 1978, their only child, Amanda, was born. Janis was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines at the time of her husband’s death in 2001.
