Marketing & Communications Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the vice president of strategic communications, the marketing & communications manager assists with all aspects of marketing and communications on behalf of the organization to ensure delivery of the mission and vision established by the board of directors. The marketing & communications manager is primarily responsible for social media management, email and website management, digital and print ad creation, management of the organization’s Teen Board, direction of marketing intern(s), assisting with strategic initiatives, and ensuring consistent branding across all channels. Some off-site work will be required. Compensation package includes salary plus employer-paid health, dental, vision and matching 401k.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Branding & Communication Strategies:
- Collaborate with the vice president of strategic communications and other department heads to ensure consistent branding and messaging across multiple channels.
- Assist with annual review and update of branding guidelines, AI policies, marketing plans, and communications strategies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of crisis communication plans.
- Seek out partnerships to improve brand awareness for the organization and expand program information across the state.
- Add programs and events to online listings and calendars provided by other organizations, including, but not limited to: Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, Visit OKC, OVAC, Downtown OKC, and Midtown OKC.
- Work closely with external marketing and advertising partners to help implement strategic initiatives.
Social Media Management:
- Develop and implement social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and Museum program attendance.
- Create, edit, and upload content, including graphics videos and messages, across all social media platforms, to ensure engaging, informational, and entertaining posts that align with organizational and departmental needs.
- Create and maintain monthly social media calendars for multiple platforms, ensuring a consistent social media presence for the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Platforms include: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc.
- Review and approve monthly budgets for social media advertising; work with external partners to improve reach, impressions, and engagement of posts.
- Implement consistent and timely engagement on all social media platforms, including responding to direct messages, responding to/liking comments, sharing items to stories, liking story shares from other accounts, and engaging with follower accounts (liking posts, commenting on posts, and resharing content when applicable).
- Track and analyze effectiveness of social media posts, adjusting future strategies to improve numbers as needed. Prepare regular metric reports for departments.
Email & Website Marketing:
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement email marketing campaigns.
- Create and send e-newsletters to donors, stakeholders, educators, and board members.
- Track newsletter open rates, bounce-back rates, and drop rates. Make improvements to content, recipient lists, and/or sending schedule as needed.
- Assist in managing website content, design, and functionality; work with external vendors to implement SEO best practices.
Photography & Design:
- Act as primary internal photographer and videographer. Plan, shoot, and edit photos and videos for marketing purposes.
- Maintain a photo and video library.
- Create marketing collateral for various OHOF departments or events as requested, including but not limited to fliers, stickers, printed signage, digital displays, postcards, invitations, nametags, and business cards.
- Design print and digital advertisements for internal and external publications.
- Work with external vendors on organization messaging, branding, and statewide marketing campaigns.
Management & Other:
- Lead all aspects of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Teen Board, including overseeing the application process, planning content for the year, meeting/event management, organizing the annual fundraiser, and ensuring a positive experience for all high school students, parents, and Oklahoma Hall of Fame Members.
- Direct the work of the marketing intern, providing guidance on daily tasks and long-term projects to support departmental goals.
- Collaborate with other departments on special projects related to onsite programming, Oklahoma Born & Brewed, and the annual Oklahoma Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Experience with social media platform management.
- Software proficiency with platforms like Canva, e-newsletter software, website management software, Google, Outlook, Dropbox, etc.
- Experience with the Adobe Create Suite programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign a plus.
- Ability to represent the organization in a positive light.
- Excitement and passion for the organization’s mission.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, memorandums, and other printed matter, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee will work year-round in both an office environment and outdoors. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud; situations characteristic to working with school-age children are common; and travel to other sites within the metropolitan area are possible.
