this universe is you
Featuring the artwork of five contemporary Indigenous women of Oklahoma, this exhibit focuses on themes of history, memory and identity.

Inspired by the 1983 poem “Remember” by United State Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, this exhibition features pieces from Amber L. DuBoise-Sheperd, Jarica Walsh, Kristin Gentry, Shelby Rowe, and Kindra Swafford.
"Remember you are all people and all people are you. Remember you are this universe and this universe is you. Remember all is in motion, is growing, is you. Remember language comes from this. Remember the dance language is, that life is. Remember." - Joy Harjo, "Remember"
Their works evoke themes of history, memory, and identity. Utilizing various mediums, they capture the literary spirit of the poem – the experience of discovering one’s self and place in the universe, reflecting on our connections to the natural world, and remembering the ancestors that make us who we are.
