Biography
Business owner, community leader, mentor and public servant, Calvin J. Anthony grew up in Carney, Oklahoma. Upon graduation from high school he attended Oklahoma State University before entering the University of Oklahoma’s College of Pharmacy program, earning an advanced degree with honors three years later. As owner of Stillwater’s Tiger Drug Company for 47 years he expanded the business into surrounding communities prior to his retirement in 2016. Highly involved in the Stillwater community, Anthony served as mayor and state representative, serving as chair of the joint committee tasked with solving funding issues for the OU College of Medicine and Oklahoma Memorial Hospital. As CEO for the National Community Pharmacists Association in Washington, D.C., he represented more than 70,000 pharmacists nationwide. Anthony’s honors include Stillwater Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year and the Calvin J. Anthony Leadership Award named in his honor by the National Community Pharmacists Association.
Fun fact
Anthony earned a spot on the 1963 All-State baseball team for the north half of Oklahoma before attending Oklahoma State University on a baseball scholarship.
