Christine Holland Anthony

“Though Christine is a member of a most prominent Oklahoma family led by the late C.R. Anthony, I believe it is significant that her many contributions to our State are truly her own and are founded on her superb personal qualities of unselfish dedication and sincere desire to utilize her talents for the citizens of Oklahoma.”
Honorable Fred Daugherty, 1978

Biography

Oklahoma native Christine Holland Anthony earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics from the University of Oklahoma, where she also served as president of her sorority, honorary cadet colonel, member of several honor societies, and best all-around horsewoman. After graduation, she worked for OG&E as divisional director of the Home Service Department and became active in the Red Cross and Junior Service League in Enid. She married Guy Anthony – president of the historic C.R. Anthony Company - and moved to Oklahoma City, where she later served as vice-president of the Allied Arts Foundation and the Oklahoma Symphony Society, and volunteered for the Oklahoma Heritage Association (now the Oklahoma Hall of Fame), the City Arts Center (now the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center), and the Oklahoma Zoological Society. Christine was honored as the first woman Branch Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank and received an honorary degree from Oklahoma City University.
