Biography
Glenn A. Cox was born in Missouri and attended Central Methodist College before receiving his degree from Southern Methodist University in Texas in 1951. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force (1951-1955) and came to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to join Phillips in 1956 in various credit and treasury supervisory capacities. He became assistant general credit manager in 1963, was elected vice president of management information and control in 1974, executive vice president for all corporate financial matters in 1980, and became president and chief operating officer in 1985. He served on the Oklahoma State Board of Regents for Higher Education and on various boards including SMU, Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum of Art, and the Frank Phillips Foundation.
Fun fact
Glenn Cox’s intense interest and support of the scouting movement culminated when he was honored with the Silver Bear, Silver Antelope, and Distinguished Eagle Scout awards. He was also a member of the National Executive Board and Committee of the Boy Scouts of America.

Cox joined Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1956.
