Biography

Nancy Frantz Davies graduated from Enid High School and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia before graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. She completed her teacher certification at Phillips University (now Northern Oklahoma College) in Enid in 1966. Davies and her architect husband, Frank, moved to Ponca City for a short time before settling in Oklahoma City in 1952. In Oklahoma City, Davies volunteered for the Junior League, serving as president in 1964, the YWCA, Planned Parenthood, PTA, Campfire Girls, and the Republican Party. Davies served on the National Council for the Humanities in Washington, D.C., the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Board, Phillips University Board of Trustees, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Board of Directors, and served as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Constitution Revision Committee. Her honors include being named Enid YWCA Woman of the Year, Enid Salvation Army Citizen of the Year, and the University of Oklahoma Distinguished Service Citation.
