Nancy Frantz Davies graduated from Enid High School and attended Sweet Briar College in Virginia before graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. She completed her teacher certification at Phillips University (now Northern Oklahoma College) in Enid in 1966. Davies and her architect husband, Frank, moved to Ponca City for a short time before settling in Oklahoma City in 1952. In Oklahoma City, Davies volunteered for the Junior League, serving as president in 1964, the YWCA, Planned Parenthood, PTA, Campfire Girls, and the Republican Party. She returned to Enid in 1965 and was appointed as the first woman on the Board of Regents at the University of Oklahoma in 1966, where she became its chairman during her last term in office. Davies served on the National Council for the Humanities in Washington, D.C., the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Board, Phillips University Board of Trustees, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Board of Directors, and served as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Constitution Revision Committee. Her honors include being named Enid YWCA Woman of the Year, Enid Salvation Army Citizen of the Year, and the University of Oklahoma Distinguished Service Citation. Davies was also active in PEO, Kappa Alpha Theta, and First Presbyterian Church of Enid. She has three grown children, five grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
