Biography
Rev. Daniel Luther Edwards was born in Ohio, graduated from Rio Grand and Wooster colleges, and prepared himself for the Presbyterian ministry at Lane Theological Seminary. He preached in church around southern Ohio from 1894 to 1902, when he moved to Oklahoma and became the pastor of Mulhall Presbyterian Church. He came to pastor Second Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, then to Ponca City’s First Presbyterian Church (1904 and again in 1914), Enid First Presbyterian Church (1921), and finally the churches at Blackwell (1935) and Ringwood (1941). Rev. Edwards served as moderator of the Oklahoma Presbyterian Synod (1906-1927), was the author of such books as God Needs You and On the Threshold, and was a radio bible teacher on Enid’s KCRC Radio.
Fun fact
During his career, Rev. Daniel Edwards welcomed more than 3,000 new members into his congregations and was responsible for the completion of historic church buildings including the First Presbyterian Churches at Ponca City and Enid.
