Oklahoma native Charles C. “C. C.” Ingram graduated from Henryetta High School and the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering (1940) and joined the Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) Company in Muskogee. A year later he was promoted to engineer in Tulsa. Following four years in the Army, Ingram resumed his career in Tulsa and became Superintendent of Gas Purchase and Reserves. In 1954 he was named Operating Supervisor of the Oklahoma City operations and the following year he returned to Tulsa as vice president of the Land and Geological Department and officer of the company. He became executive vice president (1961) and was eventually elected chairman of the board and chief executive officer (1966). When ONG’s corporate name was changed in 1980, Ingram was elected to the same positions of ONEOK, Inc., and held these until his retirement in 1982. He continued as chairman of the board of directors until 1989. A past chairman of the board of the American Gas Association and past president of the Southern Gas Association, Ingram was involved in numerous community, professional, and industry affairs.
