Biography
Jacob Johnson was born in Arkansas and graduated from the state’s Ouachita College (now Ouachita Baptist University) before receiving degrees from Central State College (now the University of Central Oklahoma) in Edmond, Oklahoma, the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and Stanford University in California. He was a grade school principal at Faxon, Oklahoma (1920-1922), and principal and superintendent at Indiahoma (1922-1933) before his appointment to the presidency of Connors State Agriculture College (now Connors State College) in Warner, Oklahoma (1933-1965). Dr. Johnson was the president of the Oklahoma Junior College Athletic Conference and became consultant and executive officer of the proposed Oscar Rose Junior College (now Rose State College) in Midwest City in 1968 and served as its president until his retirement in 1972.

Oklahoma Governor David Hall proclaimed May 23, 1972 as “Dr. Jacob Johnson Day in Oklahoma.”
