Biography
Jenkin Lloyd Jones was born in Wisconsin and attended Culver Military Academy and the Tome School in Maryland and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1933. He became managing editor of the Tulsa Tribune in 1936, associate editor in 1938, editor in 1941, and publisher in 1963. He was president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and served in the U. S. Naval Reserve (1944-1946). Jones received the William Allen White Award for excellence in journalism in 1957 and served as a director of the Newspaper Printing Corporation.
Fun fact
Jenkin Jones had traveled twice above the Arctic Circle, once to the South Pole, twice around the world, and toured some 90 countries by 1968.
