Biography

Oklahoma native Tom P. McAdams, Jr., graduated from high school in Norman and the University of Oklahoma (1941) before serving in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946. Named “Big Man on Campus” in his senior year at OU, he joined Bethlehem Supply Company and then McAdams Drilling Company in 1947. He established his own companies in Bristow, Oklahoma, including McAdams Pipe & Supply, McAdams Drilling Company, Jon-Mac Drilling Company, Sand Creek Production Company, Kato Operating Company, and a partnership with Bud Livingston. McAdams served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and was honored as the Outstanding Oklahoma Oilman of 1986. He served as a Bristow City Councilman and as vice chairman of Help Oklahoma Free Enterprise Political Action Committee.

Fun fact

While his father was a student at Oklahoma State University, Tom McAdams was nicknamed “Little Toughie” by the college students who often passed by his home where his mother would tie him to the clothesline.
