Jane Gibson Phillips was born in Iowa and married oilman Frank Phillips on February 18, 1897. The couple moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1903, where Frank established his historic oil company and together contributed endless support to the development of educational and industrial achievements around the state. Mrs. Phillips, known affectionately as “Aunt Jane” to the employees and friends of Phillips Petroleum Company, was involved in many social and philanthropic interests including the Jane Phillips Sorority. The first chapter was organized in Kansas City in 1937 and, in only a few years, fourteen more chapters were added in ten states, with more than 1,000 members.
