Biography
Mrs. Horace B. (Pearl) Sayre was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, from New Orleans with her husband in 1908 to work in the oil business. Mrs. Sayre was one of the great ladies of Oklahoma’s Republican party and in national political circles. She was National Committee Woman for the state for eight years and a member of the National Executive Committee for more than 20 years. After the election of Eisenhower in 1952, she traveled to Washington, D.C. and was an advisor on patronage for Oklahoma and in party councils. Mrs. Sayre was also the head of her county Red Cross chapter and was an outspoken advocate of improved education.
Fun fact
Pearl Sayre was regarded as the grand lady of the Grand Old Party (GOP) in Oklahoma throughout her long years as a Republican leader.
