Biography

Katie Westby began her long service to the community in 1946 when she was named president of the Junior Association of the Tulsa Boys’ Home. She was a long-time member of the Community Service Council of Tulsa, served on the Tulsa Philharmonic Society board of directors, and on the Tulsa Arts Council board. She was a leader in the state Governor’s Council on Cultural Development and its successor, the Oklahoma Arts and Humanities Council. Mrs. Westby was also the head of the visiting committee on fine arts at the University of Oklahoma.

From 1946 to 1973, Katie Westby served as a member, chairman, president, secretary, or director of nearly 50 different organizations on the local, state, and national level.
